Move in store for grain mill at Adams Street

But if the mill moves, the city won’t smell like cereal anymore

The possible — hopeful — move of Grain Millers to Junction City would mean that the business stays local, but what will happen to their old location, on Adams near the Whiteaker?

"Grain Millers has outgrown its prominent mill near downtown Eugene and wants to build a new plant on the outskirts of Junction City, a company executive said"

The article doesn’t go into this, possibly because it’s just too early to speculate at this point, but what about the current facility and its land? The current mill’s location is in a part of town that is near downtown and the Whiteaker – what could it be turned into, to make it more of a local asset? Housing? A park/retail combo? I’m hopeful that Grain Millers will get to remain in Lane County, and continue to grow, but I also hope that the current facility and land get put to use for the community’s benefit too.
