Baked Brie & Bread

About once a month, Jodie and I like to take one night to have a simple bread-and-cheese dinner. Well, bread and cheese… and a few other bits here and there:

  • The bread — anything you like; we had a ciabatta from Trader Joe’s
  • The cheese — double-cream brie, this one also from TJ’s, baked for 10 minutes at 350°F
  • Kalamata olives — $2.15 a jar from Pomegranate’s
  • Spiced fava beans — canned, also from Pomegranate’s
  • Homemade pesto
  • Homemade chile oil
  • Black pepper
  • Jacob’s Creek Merlot

Mix and match whatever ingredients suit your fancy. Bake some blackberries with the brie, for example, or have a sampling of breads, crackers and cheeses. Slice up an apple. And bust out a bottle of your liking.

Mix in a relaxed evening, some good music, and conversation shared over a nice simple meal.
