The "Cleaning out Bloglines" Round-up: WhyBike? Motorcycle Blog
After spending ages a couple of years ago talking about motorcycles, I, well, I wound up getting a house instead. But at least I now have a garage to park my ride. With a year of homeownership under my belt, it’s time to get the bike. From the Honda Rebel to Ural sidecar motorycles, my interest is back in a big way. In addition to taking a sidecar motorcycle course in Hood River, OR, this summer, WhyBike? Motorcycle Blog is one of the motorcycling blogs I follow:
- Motorcycle Safety Foundation: Experienced Rider Course | WhyBike? Motorcycle Blog
- In a crash, the motorcyclist is always at fault | WhyBike? Motorcycle Blog

And for Oregon riders: Team Oregon’s levels of training classes.

The ART (Advanced Rider training), the equivalent to the above mentioned MSF course, has a required amount of 12,000 current riding hours for participants.
Also- if you’ve been out of riding as long as I suspect you have, taking the RSP is an excellent option for a brush up.
Hey, how about a nice polished Harley? That would be cool. Then Jodie could ride behind you, with her arms around you, rather than in a sidecar. Be a REBEL!
Nah, not into Harleys – anything that merchandised isn’t exactly rebellious anymore
And honestly, I’m just not that into Harleys. They’re nice bikes, but they’re just not my style. The thing about Jodie sitting behind me, too, is that if she’s sitting behind me, then she can’t knit – and it’s all about her being able to sit in the sidecar and knit.
Thanks McAuli – that’s actually part of why I’m taking the sidecar course. It’s a lot of the basics (no experience required, sort of thing), and I like how it’s completely focused on sidecar bikes, since they’re such different rides from regular motorcycles.
My vote is of course for a Harley Sportster… (My two bros work for Harley what can I say…), but you already knew that. Though I’m a Honda gal now
But I also acknowledge the sidecar option – maybe I should build a sidecar on each side for my hounds, who would LOVE to have the wind in their ears! I can see Moddy with goggles and a brown leather pilot cap on, can’t you? Disturbingly, I bet you can!!
As for safety, here’s what NOT to do: http://jb72.blogspot.com/2007/03/first-stack.html
Hey, if you’re game for the sidecar, you and Paulus should look into the Urals too. Far as I’m aware, you can get ‘em in Straya:

Dude! That map (link) indicates NZ only – whaddyatryin’ to do – lump me in with the ‘sheep shaggers’…
Please…
You know me better than that…
Wha, there’s a difference?
When Oz was clicked, there was a # to call – though it could just be a sheep-shag hotline
By the way – am finally getting my bike. A Ural Patrol sidecar motorcycle will soon be arriving at my door – see my new blog, RideThree.com, for more.

You can afford a house and a bike. Two of the coolest things to own.
