Came across this while doing some research on wood-splitting tools and techniques. It’s an axe that combines in a riveted spring, that expands out when the blade contacts the wood, forcing the downward pressure outward and helping split the round. At the least it’s interesting — though so far I’m much preferring an axe with a fiberglass handle, an 8-lb. sledge, and a wood grenade (thanks Sam!)

The Chopper 1 is worth its weight in gold! When the company was not in business for a few years, we babied our Chopper for fear we would break a spring or something. But after about 12 years, it’s still going strong and splitting wood with explosive power. Ours has the poly handle, for what it’s worth.
I have used one and they are great actually trying to find one cheap right now.
