Let’s get this out of the way now: I love that the author is
named "Darwin". Does that perhaps add a certain evolutionary depth to
the choice to ride a motorcycle? I’ll leave such silliness to the
philosophers; after all this fine, basic reading, I’ve got an urge to
ride to work on. But first…
If it worked for this elf, it’ll work for you. Knowledge, training and experience will get you what you need for damn near anything, including motorcycling. This Idiot’s Guide is indispensable for anyone considering a motorcycle, especially if you know nothing about them to begin with. As was the case for a certain elf.
So damn good I want more than the library’s copy. For all the books I read, very, very few wind up on my own personal shelves. I borrow from friends and the library primarily, but occasionally, when I find an excellent book, it must be mine. This Idiot’s guide is one of those books.
Even learn how Honda nearly put Harley out of business! From choosing a bike to motorcycle anatomy, road skills to a history of the motorcycle, Holmstrom and Everitt give a comprehensive overview of motorcycling. Start with the book, then hit up your local Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) chapter for their rider training (this is also a good time for a Team Oregon plug – get thou on some Basic Rider Training!)
