Round-up: Government, erection spiders & war - from Dilbert's Scott Adams

The "Cleaning out Bloglines" Round-up: Scott Adams' Dilbert Blog

Dilbert has always been a guiding force in my professional life, and it was with much sardonic, crooked-smile joy that I found Scott Adams' Dilbert Blog a while back. I won't even try to summarize the contents; he is always funny and thought-provoking, and I can think of few higher compliments to pay someone and one of their creative endeavors:

Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager - Blame Society Productions - Matt Sloan and Aaron Yonda

A friend of ours mentioned this ages back, and I only just got around to so much as looking at the homepage. But that's all right, as I'm sure the shenanigans of Chad Vader will provide many an evening's amusement:

A post-election thank-you

The ballots are in, the Dems have taken Congress, and swears and signs are reverberating across the country. With my pulse getting back to normal, I would just like to take a moment to express my thanks to the news source I turned to, time and time again, for unbiased, clear, fair and balanced reporting throughout the election...

The Daily Show.

Jon, Stephen, Samantha - oh, Samantha Bee - thank you.

Ural - Russian Motorcycles with sidecars

Uralretro I haven't talked about motorcycles in ages. Been too busy with that home improvement and mortgage thingie, I suppose. But — my photographer friend Jon Meyers heard about Ural Motorcycles the other day, and I am definitely intrigued. Russian, originating around World War II — and all with sidecars. That would definitely be a plus for riding with Jodie, going to the grocery store, etc. Hmmm...

Email replies

Right now, I'm even worse about my email replies than usual. They're coming. I promise. Been swamped with house stuff, but digging my way out :-)

GreenerChoices.org

I'm a huge fan, and subscriber, of Consumer Reports. But it wasn't until their latest issue that I realized they also run a free web resource on green, environmentally friendly practices and products:

Link: GreenerChoices.org.

From dishwashers to gardening, you can find tips on how not only to be greener, but how it can help your health and budget. And it's all free.

I'm digging it. It has the advice I want in making household choices, along with the plain-facts, common-sense approach that makes CR so useful.

Shoelaces, a philosopher & me

While listening to the BBC's In Our Time podcast, I learned that John Stuart Mill and I have something in common: he didn't learn to tie his shoelaces until he was 12.

I was 9 when I finally figured it out. However, I think his learning Greek at the age of 3 balances things out.
